On the 27th July the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) announced that in conjunction with the major banks, they would be asking the high court to rule on the legality of penalty charges on current accounts. The Financial Services Authority have granted the banks a temporary wavier in dealing with penalty charge claims which will be reviewed in two months time, it is also expected that all current court cases may be put on hold pending the result of the test case.
We have no evidence that claims for credit card accounts or business accounts have been affected by this announcement,

The banks will log the claim and then review it once the test case has been concluded or the temporary wavier on dealing with claims has been removed by the FSA.
